unfortunatly that disco is a hell of a beast, and i have had the shame of being winched out by him on occasion! i have had two other landys attached to my perfect formed rear end though, damm satisfying!!

im running l/c springs of a hdj80 which give +3 inch rear and +4 inch over stock pro comp shocks. which i actually got from 4wheelparts in florida. binned both the front and rear anti roll bars ( think you call them sway bars ) it will articulate more than that, but not much more.

this is a maxed out pic, but before i removed the front anti roll bar, it now sits in this axle twiser with all 4 wheels on the floor, but only just.

I vote to take all the bolts out, create a pneumatic firing system, have the runningboards ONLY to shoot out sideways when:

1. You want to look like a transformer jettisoning some uh... running boards
2. You sped up to get someone that dented your car, get next to them, match their speed, then fire the running board directly into the side of the car.

Did I mention the running boards would have spikes with barbs so the running board would be almost permanently attached? It would be hilarious. Bonding the doors shut.

Oh my bad, I missread your former post, your were saying same lift before and after running boards, I thought you meant you had the same lift as me lol.

Lifted w/ running boards

How I would have to wheel with them because you will tear the front off if you do.

How it looks now:

The link in my sig has pics of how it looked stock. I say remove them, I only kept mine on because it was still my wifes dd at the time. I got lucky and never tweaked them, but I definately got close. Plus it looks way tougher without! I have sliders in my garage I have to get around to putting on.

See it looks a lot taller and looks more off roadish, but I drive my truck on the street more then on the dirt and no offense but that just looks horrible to me. I might wait until I can get the BudBuilt tranny crossmember.

Why would you weld on a nerf bar? They are really thin aren't they? Any real hit to them and they get bent up and they you have to cut them off the frame.

With all that being said, they do look really good up there. Can you post or PM me more pics of your 4runner.

these are custom made, wall thickness on the tubing is several millimeters. they've taken some hits and haven't bent yet

No worries, but just so you know, in that pic, I am standing on ground that is a good 4 ft. lower than where the runner is. So, you are actually seeing more than if you were just standing on level ground with it.

If you're a man lose 'em, if you're a chick leave 'em...

I actually put a set of them on my 4th gen runner because its my wife's DD and she is kinda short and wanted help getting in and out, but I'd never dream of having them on my truck.

I do run a nerf on my truck though but mostly to keep from getting door dings and to hide the BL a little...

Stripped mine off of a 98 ltd. just last night. I LOVE the new look.

After getting my 3" Revtek "leveling" lift and 33" tires, I was still not content with the apperance. However, removing the running running boards showed off the lift and tires much better. (Plus, the ltd. trim looks good as is without the running boards.)

It looks MUCH more aggresive now. It's what I invisioned...and more!
