Roof Rack Options for Pickup Truck

After searching there hasn't been any real definate answers to my questions...

I'm toying around with the idea of mounting a low profile roof rack onto of my 89 extended cab pickup. So far the most common option is drilling holes for supports or "feet" of the rack.

Has anyone tried to cut / retrofit a 4Runner roof rack? What are your thoughts on this?

If anyone has pictures, feel free to post and help with ideas!

Yakima and thule make a track that screws into the roof,and then you mount the sliding feet and crossbars.You could add a loadwarrior rack with out the extension.

I wonder how well it contours to the roof? Hopefully someone will post a pic of the Yakima or Thule installed...

I have yakima towers and homemade crossbars on mine....All i need know is to find a basket...

there are a few pics here on YT. personally i just use the bed to hold my stuff, but i could see a rack integrated into some roll-over protection being useful, like in these threads:
