this happened to a guy in my shop class with a jeep truck, he was hitting on it for 20 min. with a sledge before it came off, you might try some penetrating oil on it because its better to get it free now than get a flat somewhere and not be able to change your tire.

I checked the cable and there seems to be a lot of juice at the starter so it must be a ground or a switch somewhere. Any ideas?
Which starter clicks but doesn't turn? Your old one when you bench tested it after removing it from the truck or a new one? If it's your old one, then replace your solenoid contacts and you should be good for another 75000 miles. If it's a new one, then do some further troubleshooting. If you have 12V at your main starter wire all the time, and near 12V at the small control wire going to the solenoid when the key is turned to the start position, then there is something wrong with the new starter you got.

I solved the starter problem ...the solenoid connector was loose during the install.

I gave up on the tire ...decided to worry about when I have a flat in the middle of nowhere when its forty below ... It actually moved back when I tightened the wheel nuts so I'm thinking it was wedged halfway on?

The new starter is a bit smaller than the old one and removing and installing it is fairly easy... even with the tire on.
