Reverse lights inop!
My reverse ligts are out on my (newly to me) 93 4x4 p/u 5speed. I pulled the connector off of the reverse switch, jumped the connector and got the lights. I then bought a new switch, still no lights. i pulled the switch out depressed the ball type switch and checked for continuity, and the was. Has anyone had this prob? Does anyone have some info on the internal of this tranny?

Thats where I think the problem is at. When I pulled the switch out I put my finger in the hole(lol) and had my friend go in and out of reverse gently i could feel the cam/gear that would/should make contact with the ball on the end of the switch. I'm suspecting that there was some tranny work. I just recently bought this truck and don't know if anywork was done to the tranny, and they didn't adjust or check that cam/gear.

I've got the same problem. I just thought I would add some lights back there with a sweitch in the cab. That way when I take it out of gear the lights don't go out.

Rev. thats good for night driving on trails and such, but what about on road and city use. The use of brite backup lights on a tall rig can piss some people off ( well where i live that is). I know those reverse lights on my yota aren't bright at all but they would work well for nitetime city driving. I was hoping that some tranny guru would have some input on the inner workings of the tranny where that switch meets up..

I wired a aircraft 3 position switch to my after market back up lights. In the up position just the reverse lights work, when the switch is in the middle all off and when the switch is in the down position I get my reverse lights and my back up lights. Though I rather have the reverse light work normally i think that my little mod will work great. So when a small honda tailgates me I'll hit the lights, hopefuly he visions my truck crawling up the hood of his POS noise maker and backs off....lol...
