Rear Window Partial operation?!
Hey everyone!
I just bought my new (well new to me) '86 4Runner with 90k miles and have a few questions.... My main question is the rear window.... I've been looking through and trying not to ask an already asked question... My rear window will go about half way down, but thats it... goes up no problem, I'm thinking it is something to do with either a mechanical issue (lift) or a sensor... it only works by using the key (ill be re-wiring from the front later on, but in the mean time). But, like i said I'm new! IF anyone has any pointers/suggestions, i welcome them!!! Thanks so much in advance for any words of wisdom/advice/do's&dont's!

I had a similar problem with my passenger power window. I ended up having to pull the entire inside of the door off and found that a small little plastic piece that held the latch to the door handle had snapped and as a result the metal rod from the handle was hanging at an angle from the inside of the door and thus blocking the bottom of the window from coming all the way down. Perhaps the same thing could have happened with the latch inside the tailgate and is now blocking the bottom of the window? I ended up picking up the little plastic piece for $3.50 at my local parts dealer and everything is working great now. Let me know if this helps!

Could be a foreign Object blocking the window from going down
Could be lack of lubricant on the tracks or on the regulator
Pull the panel off check things out.
If it was a safety switch it won`t move at all.
If the window lock switch is closed or stuck in the closed position the switch in the console will not work..
Check things out before rewiring.
