Are rear shocks different sizes? Mine are.

I replaced my rear shocks today so I could hopefully get rid of the right rear sag. Well, I still have the sag. It's about an inch difference and what's crazy is I decided to measure my old shocks and they are different in size. I extended them and they aren't even.
Any thoughts.

Shocks should be the same length on the rear. That being said the sag is your spring not the shock. Shocks do not lift or raise the truck they only dampen the recoil of the springs. Shock travel is only related to spring traveling in so much as you need enough shock travel to match your spring travel.

Thanks for helping me understand that. Because I put new shocks on today and I have about an inch lower sag on my rear right still. Guess it's shackle time or new leaf springs.
Should I check anything else?

Well it's a spring problem or a bent frame

Hopefully not the frame. Should get under there and measure from the ground to frame to check it?

Measure from the axle to the frame. If those numbers are the same then the frame is bent. If those numbers are different then replace the springs. I recommend doing both if it is the springs.

Seems like it would be the other way around.

If your springs are good the number from the axle to the frame will be the same. If the spring is worn out then it won't be lifting the frame off the axle enough and the frame will be closer to the axle on the lower side. If the spring is good the spring will push the frame up the same amount even if it is twisted but to the eye the one side will look lower as the frame is bent.

Gotcha. And btw that's a cool box you built for the runner. Great craftsmanship! I checked your thread on it.

Thanks bud!

I'm lucky because my dad is a cabinet maker and has owned his own business for the past 25 years. I grew up in his shop and eventually became a machinist so I do all his metal work and he lets me use all his equipment for wood work that he taught me how to do.

How would you tell the wear in your springs? I'm upgrading rear leafs soon, but curious if there was a way to know the wear of oem.

Broken leaf rubbing into rear left shock

Broken leaf with shock removed for your viewing pleasure

Broken leaf with shock removed for your viewing pleasure part 2

Those are the obvious signs at least.

Do like yotard said and measure from your axle to the frame. If the measurements are different on both sides then your leaf springs arnt good.
