rear disk conversion.

Hello I have a question about the rear disk brakes conversion I'm doing.. ok so I'm not doing to typical kit you buy I am piecing it together... so my question is I'm planning on running a set of front calipers and rotors off a 1500 chevy pickup.. since they are much larger then the normal single piston ones in the kit.. So would it be best to upgrade the master cylinder to a 1in and put a 2lb residual valve or should I run a 10lb residual valve since they are so big? Any info would be greatly appreciated thank you

I did pick up a manual proportioning valve that I have set up right off the master cylinder for the rear to take the stock one off but would that by itself be enough for the set up?

I don't remember years but some Stock MCs don't require a residual valve. I've only read about using 2lbs valves, 10 lbs seems a bit much, like a dragging caliper. But you planning a unique set up so gonna have to search and maybe trial and error. Seems like price wasn't bad for them on summit.

Yeah I think I'm going to try the trial and error method.. because i can always just break the line and splice a residual valve up by the frame without to much trouble.. I was just concerned that with such large calipers I might have to much break force for the back but I'll just have to wait and see how it does

Dial in proportion valve to control braking force to rear. The residual valve keeps slight amount of pressure in brake line down stream so Pistons don't fully retract in to calipers. Well that's what i researched

Well I got it all together and with a 1" master the proportioning valve and a 2 lbs residual valve everything works in harmony even with those huge calipers.. but now I have a new problem. I have a hydraulic line lock in line with the system and it works beautifully for a certain amount of time but then for some reason it pops out thus loosing the parking break... now I was wondering is that just a flaw of the push button hydraulic line lock or if it's the residual valve because as I can see I have no leaks in the system.

Here is my set up. ( I know it's a pretty big caliper but it came off a silverado 1500) but I was able to get it to tuck under my 15" wheels

get a tcase brake. line locks are prone to failure like you are experiencing.

Yeah I've read that also. And that would be ideal but since they are pretty pricey k decided to go with the button for time being until further upgrades. But what I don't get is that some forklifts at my job had the line locks but the perform just fine
