Rear coil instal and 2" body lift
Hey everybody. I'm just wondering. My rear stock springs are sagged out pretty badly. So I got a good deal on some brand new ones (stock) I'm going to put in. I'm not worried about the instal I'm just wondering do I need a spring compressor or can I just lift the truck up off the ground from the frame and let the axel sag and unbolt something to get the clerance? Also I'm going to be putting in a body lift. 2" also getting it cheap what size tires do you think I can safely fit under it without rubbing or cutting? I tried searching and could probably get under my truck and figure it out if I was anywhere near it lol. But I am sure someone here knows.

you won't need a spring compressor. It might make it a little easier but I have put in new 3" lift coils without a compressor and it wasn't bad. And it kind of depends on what your rig is. You can fit 33x10.50's stock on a 2nd gen 4runner, but then again I don't know what your driving or what size tires you are wanting.

i would watch out. you got stock springs. they will start to sag again and your tires wont fit anymore... just make sure you check your sag-status every once and awhile. i got the OME901HD coils and have no problems...

In order to put springs in with no compressor you need to be able to unbolt sway bar and shocks then let axle hang but jack up opposit side of the axel to get the side you are putting th espring in to drop more.

I'm going to be using decent stock springs so I'll keep the waranty papers lol. Not that it'll help but I can try. I'll inbolt the sway bar and shock I've got my tow truck so I'll just hoist her up in the air from the frame and pop them in. Sweet Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna measure the before and after difference to so I will know is they've sagged again.

You can rent a spring compressor. I found it useful. Disconnect the swaybar from the frame, the parking break cables from the axles, the shocks and mind the rear brake line (extends from the body to the axle near the diff). Get a heavy friend to stand on the brake drum to force the axle down as you put the spring in. With all these points satisfied, you'd get by without the compressor.

maybe if you buy cheap coils I looked at pictures of people with moog springs that were 5 years old and they were still strong, I have had my moogs in for almost a year and they have not droped at all.

Do you have the stock length moog spring?
