Rear Bumpers Plate Style - Group Buy!!
Hey guys,
I recently got in touch with Curley from CurleysRaceCars.com and because of demand from thick-headed nuts like us, he's considering doing another run of rear bumpers for the 86-95 pickup.

I have been looking around for a good bumper for a couple weeks now and this is definitely my favorite. Great looks, well built, bolts right in.
If we can get 5-10 of us to be interested, Curley will make another run.
Each bumper will be $350 + shipping (or local pickup if in CA). Great deal if you ask me, and I've done a lot of research.

Elegantly-simple bumper!
Couple of questions:
(1) Picture shows a third-gen pickup. Would it also fit first-gen 4runners?
(2) Would the opening in hitch receiver accommodate use of jack handle extension to operate the spare tire hoist?

I have a 2nd gen pickup which is almost identical to the 1st gen 4Runner - only a little longer wheelbase (Xtracab). I was told it would fit my truck and bolt right in.
(2) Really good question, I'll forward that to Curley. It looks like the receiver has line of sight to the hoist point, but if the receiver box is too deep then the angle could cut you off... I'll ask.

(1) Frame spacing i.e. mount points should be identical.

Yes you can still get to the tire lift mechanism. I don't remember how I accessed it but want to say its accessible both through the receiver hole and through the stock notch above the bumper.
For mounting on other models you'll need to compare frame widths to see if it fits, I don't know this info. I can try and snap some pics of how it mounts, I'm not sure if any of those pics are online - but my bumper is different since I had Kyle add the side tubes, which have another leg tying back to the frame mounts. I don't see why you cannot adapt it to other trucks through with the original design. Modifying mounding plates is much easier than fabricating the whole bumper.

looked again - tire lift only accessible through the factory hole under the tailgate, which is still visible with bumper installed. The receiver could be used only if you cut a hole through your bed's valence or whatever you want to call it. The valence does need to get notches cut for bumper's mounting plates to pass through, since it's a high clearance bumper with fairly straight mounting plates.

Awesome bumper
I would love to have one of these bumpers too unfortunately cash is too hard to gather up for the time being while I'm trying to pay off some debt. This is by far my favorite bumper for our trucks.

FYI here's pics of the tire lift access hole and pics of how the bumper mounts. Not sure exactly how the original bumper mounts, but assume the frame plates are the same as mine even though I had Kyle Curley modify mine with side tubes and add the leg back to the frame plates. Note that you have to cut slits in the valence for the frame plates:

Would it fit a 2nd gen 4runner (1994)? Definitely interested if it would fit.
Would also be interested in a similarly elegantly understated front bumper. Don't need all the stingers and bull guards, etc.

I dunno about the 4runner. They are tricky because of how the rear hatch integrates - this is usually why you see 4runner bumpers be their own unique design. Like I said before, it's made of steel and you can easily cut/modify it to suit your application

That's a nice (or tight?) fit on your truck.
The first-gen 4Runner actually does not have a valence, just a rubber flap that's easy to modify.
I also like the spare carrier mod that BeMiceElf did.

Do you know if he would still do that? I really like this bumper, but the lack of side protection would probably cause me to lean more toward something like a trail gear tube bumper. Your version of this bumper is my all time favorite. Square plate in the rear with tube wrap arounds.
