Rear bumper options?

Rear bumper options?
Unfortunately shortly after buying my stock 1987 4runner, I got rear ended by a Jeep. The insurance said that there are no bumpers available in the entire state, so they just made me take their 700$. I don't plan on taking this rig on anything too challenging offroad, so a cheap tube bumper would not fit very well. I am a fan of tire carrier bumpers but the only one I see costs almost 2000$. What would my best option be that would fit on well with a stock rig?

I am picking up a 95-04 Tacoma chrome bumper for my first gen on Sunday. I'll post a pic afterward. Also 89-95 pickup chrome bumper may look even better. Both are available on ebay. Search craigslist too.

I was able to get a generic (new) black bumper for my '88 on Ebay. They're out there. It isn't the same as the old one but it blends in just fine and looks stockish.

I've been looking too. It's funny, as popular as these things are no one makes a factory style rear bumper. You can find front all day long. Also funny that no one has made fender flares for them except those ugly bush whackers. Or for that matter good patch panels for rust, where the hell is the aftermarket support for keeping them stockish.

When I google this Pro Comp bumper comes up. It's made for Jeeps but looks a lot like bumpers people here have used. The list price is $128.. I actually like it better than the step bumper because there's no extra license plate spot to fill. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/e...SABEgLwGvD_BwE
Smittybilt has this (below) for Jeeps that has D rings and an integral Class III hitch. It's $215. I'd be interested to see if anyone put it on a 4Runner. https://www.4wd.com/p/smittybilt-src...yABEgLy2vD_BwE

Did you get a step bumper? A lot of 1st gen buyers had those put on. I think it looks stockish. The 90-95 bumpers have chrome side extensions and plastic top pads. They are close to identical to third gen bumpers but 2nd gen have a hole for the jack crank. I dimly recall someone had a 2 gen bumper on a third gen and said they fit.

This didn't work out. The bumper had no supports or mounting brackets and mine has more support than I thought it did so it was a no deal.

Is that Pro Comp bumper a newer product? I don't think I've ever seen that. Surprised more people don't seek them out, the price is absolutely fantastic and it looks like a nice non-flashy solution to those who want more hardcore than stock, but not a tube bumper or a full out expedition style bumper.

Second that. very tastefully made bumpers from Pro Comp and Smittybilt, I only wish the spare tire carrier pivot were on the left so one may access cargo from the right-rear corner(roadside) without having to walk around the opened "gate" - safer and more efficient that way.

the pro comp looks like it could work easily with flat stock mounts added
