Pretty new to these trucks and had to gut a terrible radio from the dash and out a stock one back in. Wired it all up with stock connectors and the gray has constant power, not switched. Is there a common issue I don't know about? I heard it's direct from the ignition switch?

Gray should be from the Radio fuse, which is on the ACC (switched) line. (Along with CIG.) The ACC line should be L-R.

Other than it being common that a vehicle that old has "a terrible radio," I don't know of any particular issue. Use your multimeter to confirm Gray goes to Radio, and Radio is switched.

By terrible radio i meant old aftermarket radio wired badly. All the diagrams show gray as 12v ignition. The radio has a constant 12v for the memory and the 12v ignition (gray) is used to actually power on so it is switched.
As for checking the fuse I'll have to check when I get home. I feel like it's gotta have constant power too or it's shorting on its way to the radio. I can turn the radio on whenever I want regardless of key position.
There is a slow phantom power draw and I'm guessing it's this as well.

I knew what you meant.

If it helps, "constant" battery should be on L-Y from the Dome fuse.

I'd be surprised if your radio is drawing enough to be called a phantom power draw, but testing that is with an ammeter.
