Radiator fan replacement
Hey guys my radiator fan needs replaced on my 1990 Toyota pickup with the 3.0. I was just wondering if there were any better options than the gross looking plastic stock fan

well the biggest thing about it is the shroud like thing on the fan itself not only do I not like the looks I feel like itd be putting unnecessary stress on the fan mount plus I was just curious if there were any suggestions for better performance

So you have THIS https://www.ebay.com/itm/1636165010-...-/182596869512 style fan?
The online dealers https://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/sho...rimLevel=18292 show both 16361-65010 and 16361-38010 as fitting our trucks. I have no idea if they are really interchangeable. If they were, I would be more likely to choose the one with the "shroud like thing." I doubt the stress on the fan is significant at all, but it looks like it would do a much better job of cooling. And lack of cooling really stresses everything.

However, there have been instances were the plastic gets old and brittle and the fan breaking apart (~30 years is probably twice the life expectation of the truck when they were built).
The stock fan and fluid clutch setup is actually a really good cooling setup. Many people who "upgrade" to an electric fan struggle to achieve the same amount of air flow that the stock fan can put out.
I don't have a 3VZ-E so I have not looked into alternative mechanical solutions.
If you are worried about the fan becoming brittle, I would just replace it with a new Aisin fan (OEM fan).
