Question about AC in a 1989 1st gen 4runner.

Hi, have been reading around this forum for a couple of years now, since I bought my 89 1st gen 4runner... have been fixing small things on it, with the great help of all the info on this forum...
Last week I bought a new AC compressor, dryer, evaporator, and a hose, as previous owner had removed the AC compressor and the missing hose... the rest was there... now the question,
I didnt realize that you need a top plate where you connect the high pressure and low pressure hose from the old AC compressor... does anyone know where you can get that top plate with
the connections for the hoses, dont know what its called.. have searched all over but seems you need an old compressor no?

Thanks
Robert

EDIT: After a little (2 min) google searching, I see plate you are referring to. You'll have to get that from a junk yard I would guess?

Looks like a couple different part numbers, but an '89 should have been 88320-35220, you can see it comes with that plate (I believe) on Toyota Parts Deal. https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/...pressor,,88320

Maybe call a dealership and ask if that part was ever sold separately. Looks like they may have an updated part number

There is no separate part number for the input/output connectors. https://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/sho...rimLevel=18380 I doubt a dealership can help you (but for the cost of a phone call, why not?)

It IS a separate part (as silica knows). The current compressors come without it, and you use the one from the old compressor.

I think your best bet is to find a dead compressor for a Toyota, and get the adapter plate from it.

There should be two plates(called service valves). At one time they were available as separate parts, but now discontinued. 88371-24020 and 88372-14131. Any 1984-1989 truck should work, but a 82-84 Celica would have the same part.

Thanks a lot, will have to put this project aside as at the moment I dont see anyone selling broken ac compressors on ebay, and at my local toyota they cant get that part anymore, have contacted a couple on ebay that sell working compressors so they know im looking for a broken one to get only that part.. Im in Europe and 1st gen 4runners are very very rare over here... still have to go to an AC specialist and ask if maybe I can get a newer part and that he makes custom hoses for me.. will let you know if this is a success or not...
Big thanks
Robert

I’m notified when a 84-88 4Runner hits one of the local self serve salvage yards. It’s been a few months since I’ve gotten a hit, but I have tools and everything ready when I do get one. Now, when I go I can notify you and see if you still are in need and grab a pair for you. Just do me a favor and let me know if you solve the problem beforehand.
