Nice truck and check this out if you want swap 2nd. gen. seats on since they are easier to get.

New Truck

Hey guys. I was recently gifted this 86 from my Father in Law. Been in the family since new. 289000 miles 22r with Weber. Put some new wheels and tires on did a bunch of clean up and paint. Mechanically sound and rust free. Honored to be chosen to keep it alive.

Here's the side side shot requested. Before shot. Found out it's actually an 87 when he gave me the books this week. Lol

I just bought her two days ago.
I actually had one exactly like it 20 years ago and regretted selling it ever since. When I saw this I had to have it.

Immaculate, stock and extremely well taken care of, paint is still shiny, no fade.
Except it sat in a garage for the last 11 years.
Interior is literally like new, not a scratch or tear or stain, it's shocking.

1989 Toyota Pickup 4x4 SR5 V6 3.0L
5spd Manual
Crank Windows & Manual door locks... Old school just the way I like it.
184k miles

She runs great, no sputters, very responsive, head gasket replaced via recall.
But because it sat so long, I probably need to do timing belt / tensioner / pulley, spark plugs, fluids, filters...

Nothing too exciting compared to most of the trucks posted on here. This is my inherited '91 that my parents have had for over 20 years (before that was my uncle's since new). They rarely drove it anymore and were just going to get rid of it/donate it somewhere. Looking at the service records my dad gave me with it they only put 200 miles on it between Oct 2016 and August 2019 when I took possession of it (they shipped to me from MD to IN). I've put just over 1,000 miles on it in the past year (currently sitting at around 170,4xx).
Naturally I did all the basic tune-up stuff myself (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, PCV valve, replaced most of the brittle vacuum hoses, fuel and air filters). Also had exhaust replaced (muffler was rusted through), motor and transmission mounts replaced. Replaced the single driver's side skin-mount mirror with a pair of OEM sail-mount mirrors. Rearview mirror broke where it mounts to the roof, so swapped it out with a '91 4Runner mirror I found on ebay. Passenger side front caliper was sticking and brake pads were virtually non-existent so had pads, rotors and calipers replaced. Found refurbished OEM wheels so swapped out the rusty old ones (new tires as well). Replaced vinyl floor with carpet, added a tach and upgraded radio and speakers. Vinyl bench was ripped, so just added a seat cover. Considered doing a bucket seat swap but couldn't find anything local. Replaced rear bumper. The original had mostly rusted away to nothingness. Oh, and had the windows tinted. AC doesn't work (blows, but not cold) so that thing was like a greenhouse. And yes, that is gray Plastidip (I know it gets a lot of hate, so feel free to hate away), but it honestly didn't turn out all that bad. The original white paint was faded/chipped/scratched, etc...and just looked awful. This truck had never seen the inside of a garage and lived it's entire 30 years outdoors. I am aware of the potential timing chain guide issues with these motors (22re) and am fairly confident it has not been replaced. I did find a service record of the head gasket being replaced at 161,657 miles (in 2004! so only 8,000 miles put on it in 15 years), hopefully they took a look at the guides while the head was off and thought they were ok.

Hi everyone! New member and first time posting. This is the first 'Hilux' I've ever owned (but I've always owned Toyotas). It's a 1988 DX with 5-speed manual. I'm learning about these trucks, and as far as I can tell this thing is nearly totally stock. I actually bought it in early 2019 (these pics were taken at my buddy's house two days after I bought it), but am getting much more serious about working on it lately. This is my second vehicle (not daily driver). Unfortunately it is having cranking/running issues right now, and so I'll likely be making some posts for input about that as I scour the forums (which have already been very helpful). It's a beater for sure, but it's basically all original, and those two criteria are all that I was looking for!

Just brought home this 1-owner 93 SR5.

We are the second owner of this 91 which may be sold or become the farm truck. We have had it for 16 years.

Was just getting started on the build for my 92 pickup and RUST

I was and still am somewhat adamant about keeping this trusty truck as my second vehicle but I found a ˟˟˟˟ ton of rust on it. My gfs dad is a long time body man immediately said it would be a sketchy fix. Opinions?

Some nice trucks in here.

Ouch on that rust. Buy a new donor rig.
