You joined to grouse? Are you being paid by another manufacturer? No pictures? Your truck is more than twenty years old and that's a good run. If it originally cost $14k, it cost less than $1000 a year. I'm a child of the 70's and remember well GM and Ford products that barely lasted four years.
If car manufacturers are expected to guarantee a vehicle for 20+ years I can't imagine how much new vehicles will cost in the future. Get over yourself and move on.

86 4Runner from Puerto Rico
My 86 4Runner pretty much stock it has 31x10.5 Mud Claw MT on SR5 wheels
After a day of fun when it had the Silverstone tires.
Great tires for mud but not good on the street.
Yes that's a Texas plate, it came with the truck so I just left it on.
Need's a paint job, just need to clear the schedule because daily driver.

Don't lose hope, rust free beds are still out there!
Waiting for years for one to surface, but thanks to Craigslist, just found a perfect rust free bed for my 88. Even same color. Was on a 2WD 88 with 60,000 miles. truck was totaled, bed survived. $450

I bought my 4x4 new in 88, currently 317,000 on the clock. Although the pics make the truck look nice, the bed is going (fast), and needs repaint. Hood and roof paint badly peeling, windshield leaking. Time to give it the attention it deserves!

bug&911nut Love reading stories like yours, just awesome! Nice score on the bed too!
Finally got her all washed and waxed with the new wheels and tires. Just need to get the rear drums painted so the surface rust color doesn't stand out so much. First one is after the wax, first two were just after a wash.
First 4Runner!
Name is Steve, new to the forum. Just purchased my first 4Runner! 1987 SR5, 22RE with 163k. No body rust and only minor surface rust on the frame. I'm stoked. Needs some work but looking forward to fixing it up. Drove it over 60 miles today with no issues

When I got the email preview I though you got her a 2015! I like the 3rd gens much better. My kids would kill for that color. It looks great and the wheels look great. She looks happy.
Thanks
She picked it. Just a 700$ maaco scuff and spray
The rims set it off and removing the board make it look lifted
It 100% stock suspension

rear draw mods
over the weekend, i Made some draws for the back of the big rig,
has two draws at the front that slide out and lock, and at the rear of it is a roof on a hydraulic arm that opens up for bigger items.
im pretty impressed with the way it turned out.
Ok after hiding in the back ground and stealing all your Ideas I am posting my 90 4 runner 2nd owner and 204000 miles all the mods I did but the Sky Front bumper I did install it lol.I took the bumper for the rear from FATMOUSE good job there man. my change to it was a little plate of steal to set the tire on first and get it as low as I could as you see the rear view is wide open. My home built sliders and my Sky Off Road Bumper with 12000 lbs winch.. Where the spare used to be is a drop down rack that holds 2 5 gallon cans of fuel the suspension is all OME I just got my OME torsion bars will be on Saturday. Tires are BFG MUDS MOOG pitman arm and a MEVOTECH Idler arm. No sway bar on the front took that off 5 6 years ago. Next is new LCE heads LCE headers and Flame Thrower 4 hole Injectors Just did the timming belt water pump hoses radiator wires distributor all that happy crap. Gonna do a roll out drawer system soon.
