Did you look at his user name? It's kinda the reason why he restored it that way.

I didn't want to be the one to say it, but ya it was in his name, and his build thread starts out with the back to the future dream of a truck

So I know I posted these pix in my build and bumper fab build threads but I figured I'd show you all here the finished pix of the plate bumper that my dad and I built together. When I made the design I intended it to look like a mixture of CBI offroad, 4xInnovations and the Relentless offroad fab plate style bumpers for Tacomas. But I think I stuck with more of the look from Relentless offroad fab then anything. I think this bumper is super beefy and gives the truck a whole new look.

By making it myself I was able to design it to include everything I wanted and exactly where I wanted. And best of all is that I saved so much damn money doing it! And on top of all that I was able to help from Chefyota4x4's expert wiring skills to get a super clean install. Heck yea!

Thanks guys the bumper is made of 3/16" steel. and the trail-gear winch plate that I used as a foundation to build the whole bumper off of is made of 1/4" steel.

His 4Runner is SAS'd. His factory '89 rear axle is wider than the front and rear axles from 1985 and earlier pickups and 4Runners, which I'm assuming that's where he got his front axle from. So to make the width of the front the same as the rear, most SAS kits have wheel spacers. It's easier than getting rims with less backspacing for the front.

it looks as if the front wheels stick out the fender farther than the rears by the same amount as the spacer.s unless that's the "look" he wanted.

Yes there are wheel spacers up front. All SAS'd trucks trucks take them. As 93extra-cab stated. the guy that i bought my Axle off of included them in the purchase. So when i bought my kit off All-Pro Off-Road i asked them not to include the 1.5" spacers that come with the kit. Unfortunately for me these spacers are 3" wide. So yes what you are seeing is the front wheels sticking out a bit further. I have just been very lazy to getting around to buying the correct size spacer lol. I have been spending my $$$ on making the rear bumper and now recently the front bumper. So I never got around to it. I figured the 3" ones were working for now so i will just keep them until i find time to drive to an offroad store to buy them. So yea they stick out 1.5" further then the rear on each side. I dont really care about the wider look for now. It isnt much of a bother cuz i know it will work till i get the right ones.

Tuef you are also right. i do have some offset as well. So the tires naturally stick out farther due to the rims. But yea i do need to go swap out those humongous wheel spacers for the 1.5" ones.

We'll get some action shots after it's put back together. We'll have to get some good pics for selling it anyhow.

On my 4Runner (mine's an '89 with stock suspension and axles), even with the same offset wheels, the front wheels just seem to poke out from the fenders a little more than the rears.

Obviously YES it is a huge freekin' wheel spacer. I'll get to it eventually. Dont judge me hahahaha I have a check engine light i have to address now. So that will be taking my $$$ for the mean time. oh well. I'll probably get it for myself for christmas lol
