$200.00 1989 4x4

I bought this back in November, finally got a farmer where I bought it to plow the road and site out so I could trailer it home. It has 281,000 kilometres on it, runs good, has lots of good parts. I have the fiberglass front fenders sold, it has air-conditioning - which my truck doesn't - new rear springs, lots of good parts so I should make some good $$ on it.

Hey I'm running the exact same tire except I'm on a factory toyota wheel 15x7..,. How far out does your wheel stick past the front fenders. Are they tucked up under or do they stick out a little. I'm wanting to replace my wheels with a set of 8's but I'd like to see what they look like before I buy new ones. If its not to much trouble could you post a front shot of your rig showing how far your tires sticking out or tucked in which ever it is. Thanks

I'm not sure the backspacing on my wheels, but they're 15x8's and my 31's are 10.5. I know it's a different setup than what you're talking about, but it's close?! You can kinda tell that they stick out a little. Maybe 3/4" to 1". I like it, sticks out a little to look tough, but not too far.

Hope that helps some.

Oh.. and they look about the same on my 1st gen runner too.

That looks good.... I had 12's with 33x12.50.... Way to wide. Then I went to 10's with same tire. Still way to wide... Now I'm running 7's with 33x10.50 and it looks like s***. So I'm guessing that 8's is what I want lol. I have changed exhaust and wheels more then anything else on this truck lol. I do like the looks of what your showing me. I believe your most common BS is 4.75 on most your aftermarket steel wheels. That's what I'm wanting and I'd say that's what you have as well

To each his own. I agree, I don't like it when things are too wide ha. I guess I'm more of a pizza cutter guy myself. Good to know on the bs thanks! I never cared enough to figure it out

Hey, I can try to get a shot to show how much they stick out tomorrow. I'm hoping to run up to my buddy's shop tomorrow to get my sliders welded on. If that happens I will be posting more pictures anyhow and I'll make sure to get that angle for you. The spacing on these new wheels makes the tires stick out just a touch from the fenders but It's nothing I'm worried about. If I get pulled over I'll make flairs but otherwise I'm leaving it. I was running 31"x10.5" pro-comp extremes and the KM2s are actually quieter on the highway. I just have to get used to the difference on my speedo and the fact that I can't spin them anymore.

Hey guys. I just wanted to say it's been a real pleasure joining you all in the quest to restore these beautiful old trucks in such an awesome website! I probably couldn't have done a lot of the stuff i did to my truck without you guys here on YotaTech. So thank you all very much for your help in walk through threads and advice! It was very much appreciated. Here is some of the things I've done to the truck over the past year.

I finally mounted the Yakima Load Warrior. Sitting on Chevy Tahoe rack. I buffed/waxed the hell out of the truck today. and to tell you the truth I don't think it had ever been waxed. I really brought out the shine and also revealed a healthy looking black hard top. Gotta tell ya i love seeing my top black vs that faded gray look it had any day! haha! I'm very satisfied with the look the rack gives my truck and i can already see it. Gonna put that rack to use BIG TIME once my band starts playing shows and when we start going on those weekend camping/off-road trips. Enjoy

This truck has really been a joy to work on over the past year. It's a satisfying feeling when you accomplish something like this. Hard to believe that my truck used to look like this one year ago:

Looking good, Richard! It really has come along way, and has a lot further to go, at which point this thing won't even be recognizable next to what it was. Wax job looks really good, but darn you for not getting that hood when I called you! Hahahahaha, just kidding, I joke I joke. In due time, I know I know. The rack looks great too, man! keep those darn things locked! Hahaha.... Talk to you soon homie

So I did a search for snorkels and this thread popped up, and honestly, I can't think of a better group to ask this question.

Debating on snorkeling my Runner, but I have a concern for water coming down the inlet. It has rained nonstop for the last 3 days here, and I've been driving her some more, and just wondered what happens to the water that gets in. I will be building my own, and this is a concern.

Thanks for the help.

with the arb/safari snorkel heads, they have slits that let most of the water out before it even enters the engine. at a stop, they won't let water in. there are other snorkel heads, or "pre-cleaners", that work even better at filtering out dust and water, but they won't give you a ram-air effect. and a little bit of water won't hurt (eg- a few drops per minute).

pre-cleaners:

Keep a screwdriver in your truck and turn the head around backwards if rain/snow gets super rough.

If you build your own either get an arb head for it or run a cone filter and a prefilter. I run the arb on mine and it weeps 95% of the rain water out.
