Some roads flooded around me on Sunday. Could not resist going puddle stomping. Some roads had water all the way up to the doors. My friend snapped some photos on one of the shallower spots of road (not as deep, but a lot longer, plus I'm not about to go charging into deep water ha ha).

Surprisingly the engine compartment stayed dry except for around the hood (looked like I had just washed it, no more). Plus the intake/air filter stayed dry as well. I am amazed. My buddies Jeep is lifted almost 4 inches taller, but got some water into his distributor which stalled it out for a while until we cleaned it out. Way to go Yota! I have extended diff breathers, but no raised intake. Despite no water getting in, I'm still looking to make a snorkel and seal the electronics.

I wish I had snapped some shots of the deeper spots I forded, but this was my first time going into "deep" water and I was preoccupied with monitoring the depth.

j/k... but seriously...

EDIT: I just noticed you have a Georgia plate, where in GA are you located? (North, South, East, West)
YotaTech has an Atlanta meet and greet every once and a while, you should join in.

Thanks, Diablo As is yours, sir, ... as is yours!

It's gonna have more 'unseen' thingymadoers done to it, sooner than later... BUT, some 'seen' thingymabobs will be soon to follow... Heck, I might even jump on the seen things first... All depends. (Ie. Sliders)... BUT, I guess the Cargo stuff count's as seen, right? ... hahaha... If I open the tailgate I guess, sure.

FINALLY gonna have more time to work on it.

My buddy's jeep shortened my best off road adventure due to that same reason. Course him jumping a snow bank to go play in a ditch/stream/river didn't help. I don't know what it is with Jeeps though man. Definitely not like Toyotas where you can drive them off the showroom floor and beat them up in the woods.

Not sure on the jeeps... BUT, ..... while I'm not trying to tell you what to do, Nieb... I would watch the submersing of that old beauty. My buddy did so, not even as deep as that..... , and I guess, well, he managed to take it in just right, and suddenly, POP!... Hydrolocked the beast. Lots of sensors don't like that, either... I hear ya, it seemed pretty dry... I guess I'm just suggesting that that type of splashing, for "FUN"... it can cause you nightmares, and I just wouldn't wanna see that, that's all. You probably have a tread design that helps in not causing a 'soak down'... Mine? The MudKings? Not so much, hahaha.

BTW, Nieb, .........nice truck

Nice pic of the late afternoon sun and rig. Did you mean shortest day though? Longest day in the northern hemisphere is in 6 more months.

Thanks. It is fun, but yeah I am always worried in the back of my mind about water damage (by hydrolock or electronic submersion). The nice thing about the V6 taking up the whole engine bay is water doesn't tend to splash up much. Since my build is going to be an expedition rig, I am planning on redoing all the electronics (sealing/adding dielectric grease to all fittings) and building a snorkel come summer. Plus I am going to replace the door seals and engine bay shields (it needs a few anyway).

Hey Nieb...

Yeah, I know it's less likely.... "getting soaked on a V6"... BUT, ask my buddy Redeth about that, lol... He spent 2 days, IIRC, cleaning the mud out of everything.... (carried by mostly water, btw... not really a fudgy mud pit).... and still has plenty lingering under his plenum, from what I recall, lol.

Good plan on sealing it up.... I'm SLOWLY heading down that road as well... BUT, not sure which major path I'll take as far as whether I'll do a 3RZ or not... And whether this one will get LT'd or SAS'sy on me, lol... OR, just leave it where it is for the next 10 years and build something else... Each day brings new things, ya know?
