Did you ever decide whether you were goin to put the sheet metal under the tubing or not? i wonder if you could work it in between the tubing somehow?
Are you goin to do tube doors too?
Dunno about tube doors yet. I'm definitely buying some old ford mirrors to mount to the fenders though so I can run with no doors at all . And yes, once we extend the fenders a lil more (add more tubing, lol) we'll most likely be throwing some sheet metal under, or in them, so the tubing still shows. Next on the tubing armor list is rear bumper, rear frame truss, cage, and rock sliders

sounds like a dandy plan, i wouldn't run without doors though lol, seen to many videos of people gettin hurt without doors...
Thats what i figured, that tubing is just too nice to cover up!
the mirror on my driver side door looks like one off of a 92-97 Ford F-250!
Can't Wait to see the Rear bumper, sliders, and cage!

I have one more question for you though... on your half top, are you going to make something to cover the part you cut off, like one of the soft windows that jeeps have? or are you going to leave it open?

Leaving it open for now, though I might fab-up a roof rack/ light bar on the half top. Though can't decide between just mounting a light bar over the cab or building one to fit on the half-top. Definitely needs a light rack though, the roof's looking too plain NOT to do something with, lol

lol, agreed, if i were you, i would go the route of a super heavy duty rack, then you could mount lights all the way around if you wanted , and you could fit all kinds of extra trail stuff in the rack!

Will you be incorporating a winch mount into your bumper? You never know when you'll want/need one.

I like this. Some tube doors would be the cherry on top to finish it out

Exatly what I was thinking. If it's possible, i wonder if moze could tie the sliders into the cage and somehow have the tube doors mount in stock location, and just seem to be part of the cage until opened?

Most likely. Probably just get the mount fabbed up and ready, but a winch isn't in the budget until the rest of the suspension is done.

I ran the tube idea by my buddy...he said he'd charge me $400 for doors, cause he didn't wanna do them, lol. I'm think $300 Trail Gear tube doors would be a better idea. My fabricating buddy can only do SO much for free, lol. Though learning how to weld myself is in my immediate future.

As for the rock sliders, those are cheesily constructed mild steel Smittybuilts, and will have to be removed once I get the chevy 63" springs mounted. REAL rock sliders will be getting fabbed up though. Not sure yet about tieing the sliders, fenders, and rear bumper into the cage yet. The tube work is sort of getting done as we go, no real plan, but the bumper turned out good, and we didn't plan that at all either. I'll explain more in my build thread if ya'll want to check that out! Thanks for the compliments guys!
