I would like to get a open filter intake like that but I would be worried about sucking up mud. Is there any way to cover the filter with something so it would harder for any water to get to it. Right now im just running stock

Thanks guys.
And you can just put a shield infront/beside the filter to minimize the water comin through the grill and underneath

Not sure but maybe because it has the opening on the front of the box so that it only sucks in the cooler air flowing through the grill rather than from the warm engine compartment

its not a cold air intake. that term has become so generic anything with an open filter is called that now. technically its a short ram or hot air intake.

Eaglescout,
Its not touching, just close. And yeah there is no obstructions to the dip stick. It aluminum too no plastic, just rubber boots. the whole kit fits ok, just had to turn the maf a little to not be against my distributer

I know mines not a "cold" air because the filter is exposed to the engine bay still. So yeah u could call it a ram air or just high flow intake and filter i guess.
