I love Cruising Auburn near the Bridge, 93! Go there for Butterfly Mating season on occasion...it's INSANE! I camp deep in there, those spots, where the Jet Ski guys put their skis in the river and ride up against the rapids, hahahaha.... nuts! Know where I'm talking about?

Yeah teuf. You can get to the old part of auburn off 80 but the rest of auburn and grass valley and Nevada city are all down highway 49. 49 goes in a few different ways. We go all along forty nine and highway 20. Highway 20 will take you to 80 just before truckee. Lots of cool routes off of those highways. Me and gf loved driving through napa and surrounding areas to get to Monte rio, gourneville and bodega bay

Hey Teuf, 93, I have it marked in my Campers Bible... I'll get to it eventually, promise. Just remind me in the next couple days. The camping sites are WAY below the road where the bridge actually crosses over the river, and the River runs right by our site(it's a "down in the canyon" type section of the river. The bridge has a few smaller falls and swimming holes near it, that's why lots of teens and such were there. We had to 4wheel down to this site and it was a lil hairy at times, but very doable. You can either continue on over the bridge, into SAC, ....or you can turn left(I'm speaking of coming from the 395HWY, cutting over to the west from the Sierras) and wind up at these roads that incline down to these camp sites. VERY BEAUTIFUL, ......very, very beautiful indeed! And, nice thing, it's SECLUDED, and only one other site off this incline over 100yrds away. This adrenalin junky dude came down there(said he's known around there) in a black full size Chevy Truck, asked us to help him yank his ski outta there and then anchored it, pulled it in the river and went NUTS getting air on the rapids, etc.......and then he wrecked and we helped him pull it in, bandage his leg(def. worthy of stitches, lol) and he then drank about 3 tall cans and drove off, hahaha.

Hey 93,
The River is the American River..... I believe the North Fork American in the Auburn, CA area, and this bridge, I believe is where it runs through the highway that travels west-from-east, which is the way we go. The bridge is fairly big but not HUGE or anything When we were driving west, from the 395, we came to this bridge and went south, I believe, along the river, and then took a side road off this one that took us down, STEEP, to the sites right on the river. If you look at this site, it looks just like one of those pics where the river is DEEP in the canyon, ya know? ....

Been a few years, so I'll have to really go over my CA atlas and Campers bible to find EXACTLY where I camped. Once I find that spot of the American River.....I'll find the Campsites. THERE ARE VERY FEW and it is very restricted, as you know, due to fire risk, etc. There were really nice level concrete tables, fire pits, and that's it. NO outhouses, etc. And, well, it's the kinda place you wanna bring EVERYTHING you'll need for days, cuz the ride up the hill back to the road is bad enough....let alone driving from American River to a store, ya know what I mean? hahaha.

chef, i know where your talking about now. we might go that direction next week. i love the area. im only about a 20-30 minute drive from my house to the auburn area so its not bad at all. easy to cruise around all day and find places to check out.
