Thanks! i LOVE these toyotas and the blue truck was my first major body work project... (it was pretty beat up when i got it fer $350!). im a fan of trophy trucks an stuff like that so i decided to do somethin different and tried out some fiberglass. i sold it to help pay fer the white tuck which im still in the process of building up.

Got my new console lid back a couple weeks ago from Torrance Upholstery....


Here's my Ruby loaded up with several hundred pounds of stuff's on my trip to the sierras... with the Zuk coils she only dropped an inch or so....



With the gear out....(and with my home made temporary Skeeter screens held on by mailing tape--WORKED GREAT...no bites at night, hahahaha) .....

Thanks, 91, ...like your rig as well! REALLY enjoying, well, just ENJOYING IT for now! HAHAHA. Love adding goodies, too... but it's nice to get to a point where it's REALLY tight and purring pretty well, then just 'enjoying the ride' for a while.

i have a set waiting to go on the 4runner in my garage, 285/75's BRAND NEW...picked em up for $650

There great tires and up here in Montana we get quite a bit of snow and ice during winter and in the spring time we get some gnarly mud pits and i've never managed to get either of my previous rigs stuck with the set of 285 75s i had (Ide literally have to pull out my buddies full size trucks cause everyone else would get stuck trying to get to them! kinda ironic seein a little 4cyl yota yankin trucks with bigger lifts and tires outa the mud...). you don't gotta worry about ice much down where you live but for a big wide tire they handle and stay pretty well planted on slick roads, Those Toyo MTs were the first MT tires i've ever owned but im pretty well sold on em, I really like the aggressive look of the tread pattern and side lugs too, the only down side is there pretty damn expensive but sounds like you got a good deal on em considering you only paid $650!

I went shootin up the north fork in the mountains one day and someone plowed up this snow berm so noone could get to the shootin range... I could tell noone else had tried driving out there fer a couple weeks cause there wasnt any tire tracks past that berm you see in the picture but i just drove right through it and this "not so bright" fella in the chevy thought since he saw my little 4runner a couple hundred yards out in this knee high deep snow field that he wouldnt have any prob gettin out there... wrong! thats about how far he got after getting a run at it this pictures a little deceiving cause the snows alot deeper than it looks in the pic.. Out in the field the snow was almost as deep as those 285 75 Toyo MTs are tall..

Have read several posts now about doing this but would like further clarification. Called Driveline.com they told me I most likely have an L42 tranny and an L52 would be a direct swap. How do you identify an L42- mine is a cast iron housing with allum bolt on bell housing and a allum. side plate where the gear shifter linkage goes into. They told me my 9 bolt side plate mounts to the top of the L52 and that a gear shift comes with the L52. Anyone have any experience with this. Is it a direct swap as told. Read a post here that the L52 is the more suitable swap for the 1980 Toyota with L42 tansmission & R20 eng. because the L series are the same length. Found a pic of an L52 and it appears that it bolts directly into the tranfer case and the gear shift on top is just before that where the L42 has a section for the side gear shift mount linkage that's between transmission housing and transfer case. Just need some help on whether this will work or not before I spend the $1,050 minus core charge and find out it won't fit. Thanx

oyah i hear you. getting to the point where everything works is nice, wish i could say that about my bloody truck lol. All i have got from my truck since i bought it is B.S. it failed aircare again for the billionth time... . anyways my plan is to get rid of it and get to work on the 4runner
