Im 16 and I just bought this 87 toyota pickup 4x4 rtec, for $2300. Can yall please tell me if I did good? The interior is perfect it has a rebuilt motor, and most everything is new on it. The only problem is the radio light is out.lol
The man wanted to get rid of it because he wanted me to have it.

I'd say check the things you wouldn't normally think about. If the motors rebuilt, then all those fluids should be good. I would check things like the gearoil in the tranny and case, and rear diff. As well as ball joints and tie-rod ends and such. Don't forget the idler arm too, those have a reputation for breaking, or so I've heard...

Otherwise, thats a pretty nice pickup you got there!

My 1986, Engine has less than 8,000 miles now, bored .30 over, Weber 32/36 Carb,Holley Fuel Pressure Regulator,Offenhauser Intake Manifold, D.U.I. Distributor was custom made for me and plug gap is .55 , PaceSetter header, Catalytic removed and flowing into a throaty Dynomax Superflow muffler.

Engine is stock internal parts, except the Bore, no fancy ported head work or performance cam, I didn't want none of that, I wanted a good compromised trade-off between performance/economy and something I could drive daily for quite a few years but still be able to keep up with traffic....and I do that well

Stock lift, but I do have a Performance Accessories 2" BodyLift in the box I'm going to put on by this Summer. Tires are new 265/75/16 MasterCraft Courser CT (31" tall) on American Racing rims.

New OEM clutch, new brakes front and rear, new Rancho Shocks front and rear, new 4:10 gears in rear Diff., new CV Axles and wheel bearings up front.

I'm soon going to be ready for a valve adjustment around 10,000 miles, and I'm going to do away with the stock valve cover and go with a shiny chrome one to be an eye opener.

With the money I put into this, if I had to do it over, I would've gotten an 84 or 85 model just for the Solid Front Axle, and I still might spend the money to swap the IFS over to a solid front axle if my business takes off this year, or might even buy another one that's already built up, but I know this one is a keeper, not for sale, I'd rather have my old Yota than a 2010 Lamborghini. I love 22R Yota's that much, I want to be buried in one.
