Yours already came turbo'd correct? I really want a turbo diesel that will come close to bolting right in or with little modification.

I just did some more searching and found out that it is just a diesel and you had to turbo it yourself. Any info on your turboing?

The 2.8 litre (3L) never came out with a turbo. The 3.0 litre (5L) came out in turbo and non turbo form from the factory.

The turbo on mine is a Turbonetics TD04. The turbo and manifold came as a kit. It's not a huge turbo but the boost comes on early around 1400rpm which is good when offroad in 4L and has very little lag. The intercooler that I am running is off a Mitsubishi Delica van with custom piping, but a skyline or RX7 intercooler will do the job just fine. I have my intercooler mounted above the engine. If you don't have body lift, you will have to mount it to the side or in front of the radiator. Fitting a boost compensator will help improve off boost economy.

I run 13psi with this setup and it goes well. On the highway with the 4.88 diffs and 33's it sits on 100kmh (60mph) running around 6psi and I get around 24miles/gallon fuel economy (10litres/100km)

A few pics, its not the prettiest engine bay

I plan on revising the intercooler piping so that there are less sharp bends which should improve air flow marginally.

That is too sick, dude. I'm going to have to think heavily about doing this. I'd love a turbo diesel in my 4Runner. That would be so killer.

AHHHHHHHHH.......I got mine yesterday...I was wondering why we weren't matching up.
When you do get it, there is a nice write-up on a 1st gen and he has a killer rear bumper with gas can holder / hi-lift mount and swing out tire carrier.
