Please help with questions on 3 vacume hoses 4runner 3vze
hi i have a 92 Toyota 4runner 3vze im not a mechanic but im pretty handy with most things i have replaced all the timing seals the rocker cover gaskets the rear main seal and the pinion seal i started putting it all back together and am pretty much finished it runs fine there is just a couple vacume plugs im unsure of the first photo is on the drivers side of the intake manifold and has two plugs for hoses i think maybe its suppose to have 3 but one broke off and the second photo is on my throttle body and i cant seem to find any hoses near it that arnt plugged in also i have been told that its suppose to be blocked off but why would it be there if it just gets plugged? so i thought id ask

could you possibly re-post those pics as IMG (full size) rather than thumb-nails? I can't see crap.
I can very easily snap some pics of my son's 88. probably won't be able to explain what anything is, but I can take some pics.
your best bet is to search for the vac-hose routing for your model and decipher it from there.

Your first picture looks like the 2 little hoses that go to some emission controls beside the passenger fender, the top looks broke. The second picture is a guess, the hose that goes to intake beside the coolant overflow.

Depending, I believe, on the year it's either the top right (later 3.0s) or top left (earlier) of the three hoses that's capped. And like Sechott said, if not capped, it goes to the cruise control actuator.

Yeah mine looks the same im talking about the black thing that has 3 hoses comming off it just to the left of the fule line on your photo at the top of the intake manifold do thease go to the vsv's coz i have two vsv a green and red and they are plugged into the 4 lines that run under the intake manifold

That's the side I thought your pic was of before actually, my bad. Capping is probably better than a massive vacuum leak, but no. I would restore it to the way it's supposed to be if you have the piece on your exhaust manifold.
That's the air suction valve/system, give it a read-up.

Ahh ok so what if i just block off the three little plugs is that goin to do any damage or loss of performance?
or am i right in saying that all the AS valve does is suck air into the exhaust to keep emissions down (not sure how that works but anyway)
so really its just for emissions coming out of the exhaust ?
also what do you mean by " the piece on your exhaust manifold" do you mean the valve part that gets the wire clip plugged into it? like the red n green ones? because thats all i have a littel bracket with red n green things on it
