Please help with 1992 22RE Flooding issues
#21
Ok, another update, but it's a good one ............so far:
I took the upper plenum off again and checked some of the things that scope103 mentioned in the above post. Thanks, Scope103. It's a little hard to get strips of paper through the intake runners and under the injectors in a 22re but I did try. I ran the fuel pump and I did see a little fuel on the strips of paper but not a lot. I checked the resistance of each injector per the service manual and all were ok. I also intermittently checked for voltage on the injector harness connector with ignition off, but it was always 0. I took the fuel pressure regulator off (new part aftermarket from Advance Auto) and the gas cap and blew though the line back to the tank. It was clear and I heard the bubbles. Then I happened to remember that a friend of mine was parting out a 22re out of a 94 4runner. I took the fuel pressure regulator, the temp coolant sensor and the rubber snorkel that hooks on to the throttle body off of the 4runner and put it on my truck. Then I changed the oil because I didn't want to run it with gas in the oil pan, put it all back together and fired it up.That was December 23 (today is January 4) and it has been fine ever since. I've started it 30 or 40 times and driven it on several short trips (less than 20 miles). I can't tell if gas is getting into the oil yet, but it's running good. Remember though, it ran good for 4 or 5 weeks after I put the aftermarket pressure regulator on.
I can't explain it. Maybe one of you can. I just hope it is fixed.
