Pic of my 89 Runner!!!!!!!
Maybe. If it comes thru. There is ZERO rust on this truck. Have lots to bring up to speed on it, (just got it), but at least have a decent place to start.

And I do appreciate all your help. Just ordered the full maintenance service manuals from the dealer.....ouch, but I needed them.

sweet rig man!! its so clean too! almost makes me want to get one again, the unfortunate side to that is, the amount of salt they throw around up here in the winter.
you had better get another job, the mods will break the bank!

Any idea what the previous owner did to prevent rust?
Looks like a great rig man! it is always great when you can find an older gen 4 runner and it looks that new!
Looking forward to seeing all your future mods.

Looks clean. That's the typical 4Runner rear end sag. Some cheap fixes are add-a-leafs(will lift around 1.5-2" and stiffen it up a little), shackles or some 1-2" lift blocks. I've done the add-a-leafs since I also tow a boat and I've done the 1" lift blocks. I might have an extra set of 1" lift blocks but you would need longer u-bolts to install them(also need longer u-bolts with the add-a-leafs).

I originally paid the guy what he wanted ($2300), but after some belly aching (and a few other "tricks" on my part), he ended up sending me 700 bucks back. So, got the truck for $1600.
Compression is good and it did make it back from Texas ok, but it does need a camshaft. Few other things as well......rear window inop, passenger arm rest needs replacing, etc., but a solid platform to start with.
Overall, I'm very happy with the truck. Get the engine squared away and fix up a few minor things on it and I'll be really happy with it. But my big thing was the rust........Michigan winters (salt) is very hard on vehicles here, and it's obvious this truck hasn't been in it.

And as you can see from the ebay auction and what it looks like now..........the first thing for me to "dump" money into was replacing the wheels.........I hated the look of those steel wheels.

But overall, I'll be keeping it pretty much stock. I just like the look of the 4Runner, especially the older ones. Guess us old guys (40) are partial to older things.
