PCV valve removal.....what do I need, a winch??

89 4Runner with 4 cylinder engine. Am I that wimpy, or am I gonna need a come-along to get the PCV valve out? I can't believe that darn thing won't come out?

Idea?

Thanks.

I know the feeling. You'll need to really work at it. I wound up clamping a vice-grip on it and then putting a screwdriver handle under a another screwdriver and prying up on teh vice grips. Basically, using the 'grips as a point to pry on, one driver as a fulcrum, and the other as a prybar. I replaced the grommet it sits in once I got it out. Dratted thing.

If you search you'd find my amazing rant about mine
I was tugging on that thing like CRAZY! I ended up spraying it a little with WD-40 and with a few hard tugs it came out pretty nice

Thanks. I'll try the WD-40 thing and fulcrum stuff. Incredible how hard this thing is to get out of the valve cover.

The problem is that the grommet it sits in gets old and brittle, or hard, anyway, and it won't flex to let you pull the PCV out. Keep the grommet replaced fairly often, like every time you change the PCV (once per year, IAW FSM), and it stays fairly soft and easy to pull...
