Passenger seat bunged up......

1989 4Runner. The passenger seat "guts" are all boogered up. Seat will not move forward or backward or recline.

Where do I get some "new guts" for it? Thanks.

You won't find new 'guts' anywhere. You might find a complete replacment passenger seat in a wrecking yard, or a auto recycler. The time and trouble plus the $$ involved, you might as well replace the whole seat.
Just my $.02
Good luck!

Are the "guts" the same in the pickups from that era? Thanks.

Not on the Passenger side. In the 4-Runners, the passenger seat has a lever that folds and slides the seat forward at the same time. It also has diferent locations for the bolt holes in the floor than the pickups from that era.
My suggestion to you would be to find someone with a 1st gen runner like yours and (with their permission - of course) take a look at how their seat works. Maybe its not as bad as you think.
Just my $02.

I had the cable snap on mine and got a new one from the dealer for less than $15.

Yes, just go to your local Toyota parts dept. and order the passenger seat cable. Takes about 15 minutes to replace it, unbolt the seat, remove the old cable, install the new one and bolt the seat back down.

You're right......I need to pull the seat and see what's going on with the cable. Just needed a kick in the butt to get going on it! Thanks.
