To paint or not to paint???
I got a question for yous guys!! My poor old yota has been cursed with a pink and blue stripe on the rocker panels. So I want to paint it sooner or later. What would you do?
I kinda want to keep it silver, becuase it looks pretty good to me! With the black bumpers, sliders and wheels!
I dont want to spend a thousand dollars on a paint job just to get it scratched! And I want to be able to wax it every once and a while!!
I also am wondering if I should do the herculiner on the rockers or not, if I do should I take it over the wheel wells, or should I just follow the body line!!
What would you do in the situation!!!
My temporary solution is to keep it muddy!!

You could just line the rocker and then see how it looks then decide if you wanna take it further.
Or, take some tape and lay out what your trying to do so you can see it.

hey thats not bad my uncle just bought a black 90's model pickup and its got a pink strip 4 or 5 inchs wide down the whole body of the truck. he checked it and its nt aftermarket has a toyota graphics code and everything.
I say herculine the rockerpanels you can actually find some body shops that can get a clear bedliner that and mix in different colors. I think it would look pretty sweet.

get a rubberized truck bed coating in a spray can. it lays down flat but still offers protection and doesn't fade from uv. follow the body lines but use the lowest one you can. keep it narrow

Found that out the hard way. Heck, if I was in the same state as that wheel I would mail it to you.

exactly what i was thinkin. people see you rollin in with pink and blue stripes on your frickin BA yota and think WTH? you have a SFA and huge boggers to make up for the sissyness of it. you can also get gray herculiner form performance accessories for bout 125.. but i would go black

Leave the stripes. If anyone makes a comment you can say that the pink is left over from the Barbie Jeep you ran over on the way up the trail and the blue is from the Blue Blooded High Brow driving it trying to crawl out of his busted rig as you went over.
Besides that who in the hell is going to talk smack about that rig because of a couple of stripes? It'l like saying Godzilla isn't tough because he's a little faded in the green department........ Leave em!!

Yeah, as BA as your rig is....I'd dare anyone to call you sissy! Leave the stripes!
Or you can heat gun and razor blade them off. I also used goo gone to help remove some residue.
When I herculiner the sides of my truck I'm going to use the body lines and not go over the wheel wells. I'm also going to drop down 1 - 1.5" from the body line to narrow the black strip a little.
Good luck which ever way you go. You've got a great truck already!

Well the stripes are painted on, so they wont come off easy...oh yall didnt get a look at my tailgate though!!
I want to paint the whole truck also, silver again, but I dont want to spend a thousand dollars on a paint job thats just going to be all scratched up! But I dont want to go the flat black route, because everyone does that!!
A part of me wants to keep the stripes, but I dont like stripes, on anyting!! I like solid colors, and some two tones.

herculine the whole thing grey. you could prob do it for bout 300 less. you get the best of both worlds... herculiner, stripes-be-gone, no flatblack, and cheaper than a professional paint job, and it wont chip pff as quick. im goin that route this summer but im doin black cuz im cool

Well Im somewhat of a perfectionist, and when you walk to the truck and see the black or grey herculiner, and then you open the door and see silver paint!! I just dont like that, I guess its left over from my airbagged street truck days!!!

why not just spray paint the rockers black? or pink haahahaha. but seriously if you spraypaint it, you can always get the whole thing repainted to silver, unlike herculiner
