Over heating problem

Over heating problem
Hi Guys
As of today, im without my pride and joy....it started over heating this morning so i drove it straight home after topping up the radiator, didnt have coolant so i threw water into it as everywhere was closed to buy some coolant, 2 minutes from home she cut out on me, to not start again, i waited till it was cooled down and radiator was empty, i filled it anyway and got it towed home, i had a quick look into it and got these photos below, there seems to be water leaking from behind the top belt pulley, the one with the shaft of the fan running off it
So she sounds ok whilst turning over, anybody have any views on this problem and where to start???

it looks like it is behind the top pulley.you can remove the fan and pulley and see if there is weep hole.it will be on the bottom side ,if it is a water pump.also check for play in the pump shaft. i am not to familiar with the diesels.

cheers, i will have a look under it tommorrow, just had a quick look on flea bay, quite confusing as there is so many options of water pump i dont know what one will fit my one, dont quite know what "model" my 4runner is

no my intake is quite a distance away from it, the water is just dribbling down from behind top pulley to lower pully and down....is there much tension on the fan belt? does it come off easy?

make sure you have the gaskets/seals for it, you need to clean the mounting surface before you put the new pump on, and I don't know the specs for the 3.0L TD engine, but you need to check the torque specs on that connection or else you'll have more fluid leaks - and soon. The water pump may require RTV or some sort of liquid gasket in addition to / instead of a regular style gasket or rubber seal. I'd replace your thermostat and any bad hoses while your system is empty as well. Give your hoses a squeeze check, if its soft - change time. Good luck, and take pics. I always like checkin out those foreign diesel engines.
