Outsane's EFI swap build
#41
got a ECU from the junk yard .. no difference ...
Getting desperate! need this fixed two weeks ago
Starts for a second then dies..
Check list.
AFM
Intake Hose from AFM to intake manifold make sure there are no leaks.
Idle up thing needs to be replumbed so it does not leak
Fuel pump pressure?
Igniter wire to ECU
check if injectors are clicking
Vacuum lines
Check TPS
clean AFM contacts
hold open afm door
swap back in leaky fuel filter, remove the second fuel filter post rail
Checked
Turned on the Fuel pump and it dumps fuel back into the gas tank
Fuel pump turns on when the key is in the on position
To Do list
1. Bleed clutch line
2. Check all vacuum lines
3. Deal with a ton of wiring
4. Wire in check engine light
5. Wire in Speed signal, maybe?
6. Mount AFM
7. Mout Fuel filter back up

not sure what the pressure is at the fuel rail, I need a fuel pressure gauge
As soon as I get the thing running I plan on hooking it up to Toyota specs..
so I guess that is the AFM

getting really frustrated..
when the AFM door is open I can hear the fuel pump..
and the injectors are not clicking when I try to start it up..
should I be able to hear them with a long screw driver?
Check engine light also stays lit the entire time..

something else I need to check..
I may not have hooked up the RPM wire thinking it was to send a signal to the tach and not for the ECU

adding some extra notes that may help some one else..
Battery/AFM swap! easy with the intake tube from a Celica
Bent up the strap a little to mount to the old battery landing area
Downey Air filter
Battery drops right in, drill a hole for the hooked rod
The hooked rod from the bottom view
Here is what the intake tube looks like
Cali carbed motors have two Charcoal canisters, one mounts up high near the firewall, and the other mounts below below the passenger headlight, before a battery afm swap. I put the charcoal canister mounted near the firewall and put int the bracket that was near the headlight. this was to match the hose sizes.
