I would highly suggest getting a 3.4 instead, I have a 3.0 and I love it but even I'd like to have a 3.4

well an air box full of oil normally means you what is called "blow-by" where the combustion gasses are blowing through the compression rings and into the crankcase and blowing the oil into areas like the airbox and vent hoses.

as far as taking the engine out, disconnect and label the wires and vacuum tubes just incase you end up puttinga 3.slow back in again, makes it a hell of a lot easier. i have not done a motor swap on my truck nor have had to pull the engine but taking the hood off would help, as well as taking the radiator, and possibly the upper have of the intake manifold. Might help with some clearance issues with the hoist.

good luck with whatever you do!

Labeling will be a lifesaver whether you swap or not. Take LOTS of pictures, from every angle you can, as they will make the reassenbly significantly easier to deal with.

I'm a huge fan of the 3.4, since my swap, but do what you are the most comfortable with.
