Oil Pan removal on 2nd Gen 4WD Pickup - HOW TO
#21
well, completed this job today. had to lay the sealant while the pan was in the truck due to the oil pickup issue. it would be very difficult to do this out of the truck and then attempt to bolt up the oil pickup. pretty much impossible in my case.
for me, lowering the diff, raising the engine, and disconnecting the idler arm was necessary to do the job. used a healthy amount of permatex gray, no gasket, light torque.

I detached my upper oil pan after removing all the bolts and nuts -- but the steering rack is in the way of being able to get it out because of the front one of the two studs. Any idea what I need to do? Do I need to remove the steering rack?
