WELL, after rewiring the white, lt-blue and brown wire under the truck (there was about 10 old connections down there) and putting the COR back into its socket the truck started up and is still out there RUNNING!!! SO, I believe you may have been right about the ground/wire idea. THANKS!!!!!

Glad you fixed the problem. Hopefully thats the last problem you have for a long long time.

Good News Brothers and Sisters. As a result of reading through this thread I was able to figure out my 90 runner problem. COR. I jumped the Fp to B+ and she kept right on a moverin' rather than stalling out after a few seconds...

Just wanted to thank you!! I was ready to go buy a fuel pump.

Now to find the COR...behind the glove box.....

Thanks for all of this info (esp. nv4runner). I am having a strikingly similar problem with my '91 4Runner. Now I will know what to tell my mechanic to look for. Hopefully it works.

One question though, does it mean anything if when I roll a window down that my truck stalls? Also, my headlight and taillight are dimmer on one side of the vehicle. What does this tell a person?

Lights dimming on one side tells me that there is a bad or missing ground connection on that side. A bad ground can also cause your engine to stall like you said. Make sure your negative battery post is connected tightly (positive too!) and that the negative cable is bolted to the body. Also make sure that the engine has at least one wire going from the block to the body. The more ground wires the easier for the electricity to get back to the battery. Same goes for things in your lighting circuit.

Thanks nv, I'll check the wiring and redo some of it. I think you are right though. It's likely a wiring issue. There's just so many bloody wires in there.

UPDATE:

So, my mechanic says that he has checked the grounds and that they are fine (not sure that I believe him). He is going to take a look at some relays now.

One thing that I should mention is that the vehicle runs fine when cold, it only starts stalling after about 15 minutes when it has fully warmed up.

Also, the front passenger window will not roll down from the drivers side switch, however once in a blue moon it will roll down using that switch. The passenger side switch always works. It will also roll down occasionally after the key has been turned to the off position. What does that tell a person?

Does anyone have any further insight into my problem? Thanks.

sAME PROBLEM

Where can I buy a cor at? I have looked on ebay and craigs list and have not had any luck. I did the paper clip thing and it stays running without hesitation. Take it out and it dies.

My problem seems to be solved. Thanks for the input everyone. I ended up with new grounds, new COR and a some other new wiring. Not sure exactly what it was, but it's not stalling anymore!! (knock on wood).
