No engine check light

No engine check light
Hi.
1st post so here goes.
1994 4x4 toyota pickup 22re. 115,000 miles
When I switch on the ignition I get an oil light a break light and battery
but no check engine light.
The Truck will start and runs fine apart from the idle rises and falls slightly.
This is the 1st time I've owned a Toyota Pickup I got it today.
I'm going to look for a book for it over the next few days however where do I start finding why there is no light?
