New ride......confusing abnormalities
Bear with me here. I am not new to 4runners, and definitely not new to the toyota world. Just bought a 93 runner V6. Never owned the V6 before, nor have I owned a body-lifted vehicle before (this one has 3") I was just in the process of tearing it down and cleaning up some scary wiring and just generally checking things over to see what the heck I bought on a whim, when I came across a few things out of the ordinary...or I've never seen them before so I'm hoping someone here can explain them to me.
Please note I have only driven the truck about 300kms on the highway from where I bought it, nothing seemed awry and everything ran and functioned as it should...still does.
May I draw your attention to exhibit A, first gear position
Now second gear
Is the body lift affecting the angle of the arm? because it seems to me like it swings way lower than I am used to...or has it been modified? Or can I modify it to make it sit higher? perhaps a different arm from something else?
Next is the rubber boot that sits underneath
That's the one that was on there...none of the holes line up....it was bolted in with self tapping screws. Something just isn't quite right with this entire setup and I don't know what it is.
OK on to the next issue, here is looking at the passenger side of the transmission, from the rear of the truck.
What the heck is that module? why is it hanging there? should it be bolted to something? what is supposed to be plugged in to that sensor on the trans...if anything
3rd and final.
There is another plug spliced into the distributor plug wiring...same wire colors. Some sort of piggyback setup? aftermarket engine management?
That's all for now, please lend me any and all thoughts

I am going to hazard a guess on the shifter is due to the body lift.
As for that module that is ziptied up under the truck is the neutral safety switch, meaning the truck was an auto (swaped to manual)- can be confirmed with the sticker located on the drivers side b-pillar. This would also explain the shifter boot/self tapping screws. It will look similar to this (picture provided below where it says w56 under the red circle)- the transmission is located in the lower right (it should say A340F is one of Toyotas automatic transmissions) The module would have been connected to the auto tranny.
No clue on the third item, sorry!

I suspected that it used to be an auto, I got a feeling you are right. And being that the shifter is mounted 3" lower then the regular bend near the bottom would need to be much higher up for a better angle. I wonder if I can heat it up enough to re-bend it.......safely

crap you might be right. Almost looks like a 22r-e dizzy in there (which I didn't expect)? and the factory plug is hanging out. I'll rip that harness apart tomorrow and see which plug is supposed to be there and which one is piggybacked...and see which distributor is actually in there. Am I crazy to believe they are interchangeable?

I've been having my own personal battle with distributors on my rig...I can't answer your question definitively, but I believe the differences other that possibly the body, is some come with a G2 signal generator where others only have G1 - and - the NE signal generator may come with either 24 or 4 teeth.
I pulled a 93 dizzy from a junkyard a couple of days ago and it seemed to match my 91 distributor perfectly...had G1 and G2 and a 24-tooth NE signal generators.
I'm new to Toyotas, so I'd definitely double check my knowledge against that of others.
