New radio install issue
Well just had a buddy put in a new radio in my 90 pu and now the presets and clock reset whenver I shut the truck off. What did he do wrong? Neither of us can figure it out?

There should be two power wires for the radio and one ground. One power wire is for "full time" power, and the other one is for switched or ignition power. The switched or ignition power is only hot when the ignition is on, so your battery doesn't die, this is why you cannot turn the radio on when the key is off. The "full time" power lead is for keeping your clock and presets stored. It appears that you either did not hook this wire up, or you just put both leads to a switched/ignition power source. Because of this, whenever you turn off the key, ALL power is cut off to the radio and it forgets everything.
Hope this makes sense.

x3... and in most cases, not all, but most. The constant power wire is yellow and the switched power wire is red. Best way to ck it though is with a current tester to make sure. Too bad you have a second gen, it is a huge PITA to get to the stereo again.
