New Magnaflow catback system, Arghhhhhhhhh
Not by choice!!!
As most of you know, my rig is about dead.
Number 3 cylinder has been shot for several months now, zero compression due to a collapsed ring or a broken valve.
Been driving it this way for a long time, so more extensive damage is there too.
Since the engine shakes violently, the two bolts at the tail of the catalytic converter that joins it to the tailpipe have worked themselves loose a few times, and I have tightened them up.
They have loosened again this week, and I could hear it down there.
This morning going into work it blew all the way off a block before I got to work.
Can anyone say open headers sound
Man was it loud, and sounded like crap since it is missing a cylinder.
Had to drive nearly 15 miles to a local muffler joint by me.
They said it would be free to replace the bolts.
Not so...
They called me out and showed me the Magnaflow had a crack in it, and also it was hung to far back from where it should be.
I am through going to Stan's Headers, and they are a good outfit, been in the bizz for years.
But the guy's he has employed in the past are not up to his standards.
This place I went to today also showed me how the tailpipe was routed way to close to the spare tire, and they are surprised it did not blow the tire.
So I ended up having to go with a whole new setup from the cat back.
Got a slightly used Magnaflow, same as I had, with 300 miles on it.
Plus the new 2.25" pipe, and a nice turned down tip for $213.
Did not want to stick anymore money into this :pig:, but I had no choice.
Hopefully this is all I will have to put into it before the FJ arrives.
