Any ya folks ever buy a new doa motor, just bought the 150 hp motor & a used distributor from doa, got it in & installed, dist was bent & it chewed up cam gear & dist, called him & lefts many msgs & he would not call me back or try n help. Finally he answer & email & said he don't answer calls whens he's buisy , n said i didnt lube it enough & its my fault. I ordered anuther else where & installed it dry & it works fine. Was quoted 300$ freight for all w/core return. Then they hit my ccard 4 nuther 30$ freight & 110$ crate fee which will get used nother 50 times. Call'd um gin many times saying i'd like to talk about matters. Finally he answers an email saying stop by his shop in nc & we'll talk. Now he's saying its my responsibilty to get the core back, looks like another charge that was not in the original quote, anyone ever go thru this & know how to deal with this. Acting like cuz he's across the states he can just hammer ya.
That sucks!!

I agree with Bleeder and homeless.....rebuild it your self. IF nothing else, just follow bleeder's thread. (Saved my butt!)
I just rebuilt the head on my engine. It's amazing how simple the 22RE is and easy to work on. I would not consider myself to be any great mechanic, but I can replace parts. When things get beyond my skill set I search YT for answers and also have a couple of buddies that lend a hand on occasion.

The problem with DOA is that they are based out of Mooresville, NC. This is where all of NASCAR is based out of. Maybe he is stuck in the 60's with NASCAR (Pushrod V8 that burns lead gas)

my personal pref. would be for an EB engine first, then LC, but depends on what you're after. I like the stock setup with mild upgrades. plus, Ted'll treat you right on the customer service. he doesn't mind answering questions.
