Need help removing driver side axle

yeah i rebuilt it, i built the other side and everything was good. I did hit it with a mallet and the cover came off on the housing that bolts to the extended drive axle. I managed to get the cap back on. No dirt went in so that was good. Im now trying to get it out again..and just cant..
