Need help! Can't shift?!

Hi guys,

So I have a '95 22RE 5spd with 120k on it. When I'm moving, it shifts fine into all gears. But sometimes when I'm stopped it doesn't want to go into any gear. Today I was waiting in line at the drive-thru ATM and when I went to pull up, I could not get it into gear. When I tried to force it, I kept hearing a dull thud coming from underneath. I tried probably 20-25 times before it eventually went into first.

Ever since I bought it 2 months ago, it has sometimes been a little hard to get into gear when stopped. But this is the first time it just wouldn't go at all.

Does anyone have any ideas about this? Thanks!!

Your clutch is dragging. Likely the slave cylinder is not holding pressure. Could be the clutch master as well. If you turn the truck off, can you shift OK? If so, its a clutch release problem.

Now, go get it fixed.

Have you noticed if you have had to put any brake fluid in the clutch reservoir? Mine went like that and was the slave cylinder once and the master the time after. It got to the point where I could not shift it anymore and had to shift the big rig way with no clutch. Thank god for our town not having many stoplights.

Okay, I'll do some poking around tomorrow when it's light out. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
