Even though there are great options already listed here, I wanted to share my experience. I got my long block from japanengine.com. Block, crank, rods, pistons, complete head, all new. Came with gasket set, and I ordered a water pump, upgraded steel cam chain guide, MLM head gasket, and a manifold stud set. With freight and everything, it ran me $1,757.50. Warranty was 1 year / 12,000 miles. It's running great, and I'm very happy with it so far.
The guy I ordered from was really cool. I think his name was Allen maybe. He was really cool and helpful.
However, the motor I recieved didn't have the steel cam chain guide. When I called them back, Allen wasn't there that day, and everybody else were total morons. They tried telling me that I couldn't see the cam chain guide from the top of the head, and kept arguing with me that it was metal. I e-mailed them pictures, and none of them were smart enough to open the e-mail. They made me so mad.
Allen was in the next monday, so when I talked to him he got everything straightened out, and sent the steel cam chain guide super quick. He included the timing cover gasket, and told me there wouldn't be any issues with the warranty since I was the one replacing it. Other than that, it was a very good experience, and I got a great motor for a very good price.
It pulls my truck a lot stronger than my old motor ever did, and I still need to regear it.

Vance and YotaR: How are those Oregon engines working out? I'm really leaning towards their SS version. How many miles have y'all got? Any other news from other Oregon drivers?

well i changed my mined agine the Oregon guy said its lifetime warrenty but i pay for shipping there and back just not worth it to me having to pull the whole thing out and send it off if anything goes wrong if i was closer i would do it but found a guy local a friend told me about Engine man in Braselton GA its got a 3year unlimited warranty and only like 30min away and still covered if i install it myself. So went with that but anyways it comes in tuesday but working all week so will probably not have it in until the weekend here it is with the hole in it

Now that's a hole!!! I would love to see a picture from the bottom. Did it make a little bit of noise when it happened?
Sorry for your bad fortune, but at least it happened with style. I hope you enjoy your new motor as much as I'm enjoying mine. I can pull hills way easier now.
