Mystery Gasket INSIDE Rad???
Ok, this is wierd.
I was checking my antifreeze and found these rubber gaskets floating under my rad cap. They aren't the seal for the rad cap.
Anyone know what they could be?

now that's odd...
I mean, what are the chances of you finding them, out of the hole cooling system, while you had your rad cap off!
yeah, looks like t-stat seal, but I would only expect maybe one ring. Think about it; if the ring split, half would flow with the anitfreeze and away from the t-stat and end up in the rad, but how would the other second half get pass the t-stat???
I dunno; strange man, very strange...
now if you have no t-stat in, and for some reason just put the rubber seal in there, then 100% possible, lol

Wow, sure wasn't expecting this many responses (although most were about the Spears family).
Thanks to Jamesd and Toytech. I'll remove the upper radiator hose water outlet and check for black RTV.
If I don't find anything there I'll check for a missing thermostat gasket.
Just got the truck yesterday so I'm a bit paranoid. Was worried it was carnage from some bad workmanship.

I wouldn't bother taking the water outlet off unless it's leaking externally. What the guys meant is that when you put that outlet on, you put a bead of FIPG on there and install the outlet. This squeezes the FIPG, and some will ooze out both sides (inside the outlet and outside the outlet... if that makes sense.)
Over time, the stuff that squeezed out inside the outlet will break free and go floating around your system. Most times, it will just get caught somewhere, like it your radiator, or in some water passage. It is normal (well, if you use a bit too much FIPG it is...) and will generally not cause you any grief unless it gets caught by your thermostat and prevents it from fully closing.
If you have good heat coming from your ventilation, and your truck's not overheating, you probably have nothing to worry about, and it's not worth tearing your engine apart for.

yeah i had that exact same thing pop up in my radiator too. and they showed up right when my radiator started spewing from a pinhole in the top. i got very freaked out that i had a gasket problem. the night before i found the pieces of black rtv i put some pelletized stop leak in for the pinholes i found. the next day the pieces of gasket showed up floating around and my water turned milky and chunky . I thought for sure i was dealing with a nasty blown hg. i told my co-worker about it and she said not to worry. she used the same stuff and it turns out the pelletized stop leak will turn the water milky white from the conditoners in the stop leak...**major relief**...but yes, my oil was very clean and contamination-free, which was another indication of a non-blown hg. so anyway that piece of rtv happened to me too. mine just happened to show up at a very bad time. and made me worry! but now i know its all good yay!

Ok I'll leave it alone unless I have some hating problems
I see that the upper water outlet is rectangular just like the RTV.
I was afraid it could have been from something else.
When I first saw it I thought it was a blob of oil.

well, without a scale to compare the gaskets too... and LOL at all the condom and other suggestions... had me floored for a moment....
If it's an auto trans... do the trans cooler fittings to the radiator have any sort of seal in them?

So you are assuming that Jaime lee Spears condom is rectangular and it ended up in his radiator?
Odd, considering a condom is tubular, near cylindrical with one closed end, which that ring of 'stuff' is neither nor....
and we can reasonably guess the Spear's condom was not used by that truck.
...
or did you mean Jamie Lynn Spears?
the difference is
Jaime lee Spears or
Jamie Lynn Spers.
one is Britney's gardener, the other is her sister.
