so i dove intot the 3rd member today and found some strange things...1st off the ring gear had 37 teeth, and the pinion 9, whichs makes it 4:11s,odd knowing mostly all toyotas came with 4:10s...secondly it had a solid spacer not a crush sleeve. i didn't think toyota had solid spacers stock. also there was bearly ANY wear on any parts in the 3rd, as if 4wd was bearly ever used. and come to think of it when i 1st disasmebled the axle i remember there being a stock toyota 3rd gasket. any input

runner looks great, i have a lot of similar plans, and i plan on using a lot of the pictures and information you posted up to help with mine. thanks! and good luck on the SAS, i was quote 3k to have mine done, id do it myself, but i cant weld...hoping that if i put together and rebuild the SFA they will come down on the price.

i don't know what year your third is, but when i rebuilt one for my rear end i used one from an earlier truck(81 i think, it had 3.90s) and it had a factory solid spacer, cast iron lookin' thing.
i think crush sleeves came out later sometime?

i've seen a few others before, and i think they were all first gen trucks.
good thing you got one, i think crush sleeves are kind of a pain, especially if you muck one up.
what ratio did you say you were gonna run?
