Is my fuel pump shot?
#21
so i got the tank down today, the filler hoses were a whore lol should be just as fun puttin them back on but i got the pump off and the sock was black i started laughing, isnt it supposed to be whiteish? and yea i can see abunch of crap on the bottom of the tank. how do i clean the sock?

if you went to the trouble to drop the tank and could afford a few days of down time i'd hit the dealer for a new sock, just to be safe.
maby let the sock dry and try compressed air?? i'd be worried about damaging the filter and rendering it useless in the future.

Your sock being that dirty, I am sure that it was clogged even after cleaning it. I wouldnt be surprised that some trash made it past the old one so you might could have some problems later on but you may just luck out.
I have seen the long "J" line clogged. You probably have it back in now, but if you ever pull it again, check the pipes from the firewall to the tank as well. I check with the pump out and use an air hose to hear the bubbles.
That pump I listed from ebay is exactly the same if you need to replace it. Have fixed several trucks with those and never a problem. It is 5 dollars cheaper if you call them.
