My 86 4runner pics!
I was bored and i've done alot to may runner to restore it and keep it Toyota OEM as much as possible so far anway. And i just wanted to show pics cause i have never done it before. I want opinions. Tell me what you think and if any ideas lemme know lol just bored.

Yea she has alot of rough miles on her. I'd say about 100k of her miles are from hunting, fishing, 4wheeling, beach, snow wheelin, hauling a trailer with at least 1000-3000lbs on it. so yea i'm trying to restore her. she was my dads since she was bought new by him in 86 and he did alot of work in it. shes done 4wheelin. i'm trying to find another rig just to beat around in.

I like the way you solved the cup holder problem, and nice rig when I get around to bringing my other 4Runner out here I'm going to keep it as close to OEM as possible. Do you have a good source for OEM replacement interior pieces?

lol yea that rear bumer has been throught alot of punishment. alot of the dents and bends are from pulling people out with straps lol. yea i don't really like the guard either my dad had it put on in 92 and its all bent up anyway i plan ontaking it off soon to replace the front valance thats missing.

lol yea i kept getting pissed off that there was no cupholders and everywhere i put my drink it fell so i said i'll put them things in the dang glove box and 50cent walmart cup holders go along way. i do have alot of old interior pieces from previous trucks i've had yea.. i preach OEM too my friend good luck on your runner.

ebay has been a god spot for parts for us.
scored quite a few.
we're doing a restoration on our 88 4runner.....so far all plastic interior parts (not the dash) have all been taken out / cleaned / plastic primed and then painted and put back in. all look good as new.interior was totally removed / carpets out all panels out and everything back in. just need a stereo now and she's good to go (interior wise), then have to concentrate on the motor work and 1 fender.

Yea after i finish fixing my horn.(Which is why steering column cover is off) Then i'm just about done with the front interior. Trying to find a new shifter boot and center console door. E-brake handle to be replaced. That radio has to go and i got to fix some wiring under there along with a new radio. Window seals.... windshield needs rplacing its more cracks in it than ever. In process of the fixing the back of it. I need to repaint the inside of the top and cargo area. Trying to remove 20 yearold window tint too.... Body work comes later. Shes getting painted soon.

Like the brush guard.
never cared much for the parts that cover the headlights.
always could use some front end protection as well as a place to mount lights but never liked the part covering the headlights.

probably could use a recip saw to cut them off and a metal grinder to grind down the nubs. also makes it alot easier to take off the push-bar part to paint etc....
have just the push bar on my 1992 and even though it has no lights attached, in it's prime I drilled extra holes on the verticals and had 2 sets of lights mounted to it and a 3rd set mounted in front of the valence. 1 set of KC's...1 set of fog lights and 1 set of No-Shows (appeared white but when turned on were strobing blue lights....back when I had more money than I knew what to spend it on)
i've had my push bar off a few times to re-paint and is essentially a one person operation. with those headlight pieces i imagine it's definitely not a one person job.

yea i'll have to see its got nuts on the inside of the middle that hold em on but i dunno if they will copaperate easy. lol you must like alot of lights in the might huh. you basically had like 8 lights on the front of your truck....lol

was a nasty-good truck back then(oh thank goodness she can't tell stories!!!!!!!).....was 21 when I bought this truck(the 92 truck) 18 years ago (do the math)....good job, single, no kids, more money than brains....then married / mortgage / 2 kids and the toys get rusty. only now that my sons are 13 and 7 are we starting this TOY Factory (hey, I like that...) endeavor of fixing up my 92 and getting him that black 88 4runner.........it's a well-earned hobby that we all (us as well as you guys) love to do very much.

lol thats cool. At least you got motive and something you keep you busy. So you have had the 92 since she was about new. I just realized your 88 was a 3.0. I don't care what no one says the 88 3.0 as a monster. I used to ahve one all origianl with 300k on it. I want to get more trucks to tinker with but i'm low on money... lol

bought the 92 brand new. it's still my second vehicle I ever owned.so i'm still on my 2nd vehicle....hahahah. all the others were the wife's. so i'm proud i still have it.
because the 88 4runner isn't road-worthy yet, i've only been able to take it for little 1 mile rides, but it does well.
i'm sure if i was towing something i might complain about the power.
it's not a HEMI, and i'm used to my 22re and it's been loaded down with stone and dirt to wher the front tires hardly touched the ground and the back ones were buried in the wheelwells, and she always did me well.
horsepower is over-rated in my book. torque is where it's at. if you want horsepower, buy a mustang.
