Sorry, I meant $10 I'll take it.

Nope, someone bought it for $100, I advertised it for $120. He wanted to tow something with his 4Runner.

Relax buddy, if you'd followed what Jay351 and I were saying, you would have realized that I was making reference to the fact that thought he could actually tow with a 4Runner. I guess "subtleties" aren't your thing.

What thickness would you say the frame-to-bumper mount is? Would 1/4" be sufficient?

That thickness looks closer to 5/16" or 3/8ths....but it's been a long day.

I'd go at least a hair thicker than a quarter, but I always tend to think things need to be over built. Technically I probably doesn't need to be much thicker than the frame I suppose. I'd still over build it on my own rig.

The frame is fully boxed, this is only flat cutout.

I want to keep weight down and I don't think the plasma cutter will cut that (but it might, dunno). The MIG I use can't do much over 3/16" I think. Whether that means that I only get the strength of a 3/16" weld on any thickness material or otherwise, I don't know.

I've enquired into buying JUST the frame mounts from the MC rear bumper. That would make my project simpler. I don't want to cut them out of 3/8"+ steel with an angler grinder.

Apparently, you cannot just buy the MC brackets. I may keep pursuing that avenue though. Those MC brackets (above) look close to 1/2", can anyone attest to that?


Back to this style of mount, the rear section of frame is nowhere near flat, there's the plate extending of the rear tie-downs, and some piece for between where the body mount mounts to the frame. Does the bumper mounting plate just go over all that?
