I will attest to this statement. I'm on my second used tranny, and there was a new tranny in my Runner when I bought it. 2 trannys I beat the ever livin crap out of, but the first tranny my wife just drove daily to work - about 14km for 14-16 days per month with 32x11.5 at's. After that I installed an afterrmarket tranny cooler - second largest you can get inline with the factory. I will tell yo 4.10's and 33x12.5's is hard on the tranny - I wish I could have used the tranny money for gears. I would have gone 5.71's just to have the extra umph.....

The automatics have a really high 4 gear, as you probably know, it shifts a lot between 4th and 3rd because the engine doesn't have enough power to hold it in 4th. You need to get at least 5.29's for your 31" tires for good power and 5.71's for anything higher.
