I haven't been following this - can you outline what you've already replaced?

That behavior sounds kind of like bad plugs from my experience.

Fink:

Fuel pump and filter, plugs, cap, rotor, TPS, and a few cut vacuum lines.

I have checked MAF and the pipes leading away from it, and they have a black residue in them...

Clean it up as much as you can (MAF cleaner or brake cleaner will work) just to be sure.

Have you cleaned the TB yet? If not, give that a good cleaning.

How is the exhaust? Any leaks anywhere?

Exhaust is BRAND new, just got it back from the shop 3 months ago with all new OEM piping and everything... shoulda just got an aftermarket.. ha!

and clean the MAF, pipes and the throttle body?

Plug the EGR valve. A slice from an alum can will do it.

Definitely clean the throttle body.

By the way, the 22R-E doesn't technically have an MAF, it has an AFM - I just remembered that. I don't have any experience cleaning them, but I would do some searching on here for write-ups on how to clean the 22R-E AFM.

xxxtreme may chime in soon, and he would be one of your best resources for this issue.

ok, so after taking the t/b off, the intake piping and the afm and cleaning everything, still the same thing

I think, since it is dependant on throttle position, it is the tps.

but considering the condition of the truck so far, like grounds not connected and stuff, hell its kind of overwhelming. start there, ohm it out, take the throttle body or upper-intake off to avoid too many curse words lol.

actually that would be best, remove the whole upper intake and pay zero attention to where the vaccum lines are. . . . that way you have to re-route them according to a correct diagram when you reassemble. two birds with one stone, tps, and vac lines. that-is efficiency

with these older ecu's if the tps is out of spec/improper adjustment, then the vehicle won't run right at all. Have you verified the proper firing order? Have you checked for stored trouble codes?

. . . . . buy a manual before a light. read it. it is better to know exatly what tools to buy and have a reason to buy them. learn the truck according to a manual, then try and make yours the same. I curse my haynes daily but know that whithout it, i would be screwed.

also go out to a bar every once in a while and ask, "who here has a 22re?" and buy him a drink. make friends so you have a reference truck.

not to be a "richard cranium" but im gathering that you dont have much experience with these trucks and need someone that does, live, in person. a mechanic does not count as this person
